What the Numbers on a Pokémon Card Mean
That little fraction in the corner is your card’s address: exactly which card it is, in which set, and sometimes whether it is a secret rare worth real money.
The fraction: collector number / set total
A number like 025/185 means this is card 25 of a set that officially contains 185 cards. Two different Pikachu cards with different fractions are different printings with different values — the fraction is what tells them apart.
When the top number is bigger than the bottom
A card numbered 215/203 is not a misprint — it is a secret rare, printed beyond the official set count. These are usually the most valuable cards in a set.
The set code and regulation mark
Near the number you will find a small set code (letters identifying the expansion) and, on modern cards, a letter in a box (D through I) — the regulation mark that says which competitive format the card is legal in.
